MRD8002 series 6GHz radar level meter is suitable for non-contact continuous measurement of the level of liquids, slurries, granular materials, and block materials.

It adopts the measurement method of microwave pulse and can work normally in the industrial frequency band. The beam energy is low, and it can be installed in various metal and non-metal containers or pipes without harm to the human body and the environment.

Product principle

Very short microwave pulses with very low energy are transmitted and received through an antenna system. Radar waves travel at the speed of light, and the run time can be converted into a level signal by electronic components. A special time extension method ensures stable and precise measurements in a very short period. Even if the working conditions are more complicated and there are false echoes, the echoes of the material level can be accurately analyzed by using micro processing technology and debugging software.

The antenna receives the reflected microwave pulse and transmits it to the electronic circuit. The microprocessor processes the signal and identifies the echo generated by the micro pulse on the surface of the material. The correct echo signal identification is completed by the pulse software, and the accuracy can reach the millimeter level.

The distance D from the material surface is proportional to the time travel T of the pulse: D=C×T/2; where C is the speed of light. Since the distance E of the empty tank is known, the material level L is: L=E-D.

Set by entering empty tank height E (= zero point), full tank height F (= full scale) and some application parameters, the application parameters will automatically adapt the instrument to the measurement environment. Corresponds to 4-20mA output.

Protection class

This meter fully meets the requirements of protection class IP66/67, please ensure the waterproofness of the cable gland. As the above shown.

How to make sure your installation meets IP67 requirements:

Make sure the sealing head is not damaged.

Make sure the cable is not damaged.

Make sure that the cables used meet the electrical connection specifications.

Bend the cable down before entering the electrical interface to ensure that water does not flow into the housing, see ①

Please tighten the cable gland, see ②

Please plug the unused electrical connections with blind plugs, see ③

Installation requirements

Recommended position (2), the tank wall to the outer wall of the installation short pipe should meet the following requirements: the optimal distance from the tank wall is 1/4 or 1/6 of the diameter of the tank body, and the minimum installation distance from the tank wall is 1/10 of the measurement range. For example: For a 10m liquid level storage tank, the minimum installation distance from the tank wall should be 1m.

It cannot be installed above the feed inlet (4).
It cannot be installed in the center position (3). If installed in the center, multiple false echoes will be generated, and the interference echoes will cause the loss of the real signal.
If the distance between the instrument and the tank wall cannot be maintained, the medium on the tank wall will adhere to cause false echoes, and false echoes should be stored when debugging the instrument.

Installation of conical tank

The top of the conical tank is flat and can be installed in the middle of the top of the tank to ensure that the measurement to the bottom of the cone is guaranteed.

Storage tank with stockpiles

When there is a material pile, the antenna should be vertically aligned with the material surface. If the material surface is uneven and the stacking angle is large, a universal flange must be used to adjust the angle of the horn so that the horn can be aligned with the material surface as much as possible. (Due to the problem of echo attenuation and even loss of signal due to the inclined solid surface)

In-tank installation instructions

In the signal beam, the following installations should be avoided: such as (1): limit switch, temperature sensor, etc.

Symmetrical devices such as (2): vacuum rings, heating coils, baffles, etc.
